Revitalising town centre commerce: an exploratory study of drivers relating to resistance

Aurore Ingarao
Joseph Kaswengi

Abstract

The aim of this exploratory article is to bring together the visions of an association of merchants and shoppers. Thanks to a semantic analysis, the results reveal that there are not only convergences of vision, but also some differences between customers and merchants in terms of satisfaction, mainsprings, and challenges. More specifically, there are more points of convergence than divergence. Finally, the article highlights the need for a congruence of views between customers, associations, and public authorities to revitalize the city center.
