Le trésor de Bordeaux-en-Gâtinais (Loiret). Deniers et fausses monnaies au début du xiie siècle. Étude numismatique et analyses métalliques

Abstract : The Bordeaux-en-Gâtinais (Loiret) hoard now kept at the BNF consists of 220 deniers from six mints in the region (Le Mans, Chartres, Blois, Orléans, Sancerre et Nevers). Their circulation can be dated from the end of the 11th century or the beginning of the 12th century, which leads to the question of the classification and date of the issues of Sancerre. Four of the issues in the hoard are forgeries probably from a single mint as shown by metal analyses. The existence and organisation of forgers’ mints as early as the 12th century is also discussed.
