Minerve dans le toulousain : un nouveau témoignage épigraphique

Abstract : A new fragmentary inscription from Gallia Narbonensis is here published for the first time. It was found in a small town by the river Garonne (Verdun-sur-Garonne) on the territory of the civitas of Tolosa. Although other letters are clearly present on the stone, only two words can be made up for sure : sacrum Mineruae. The inscription, probably dating back to the Flavian dynasty, is the first epigraphic trace in this part of Gallia Narbonensis of a cult to the goddess Minerva, whose importance both for Domitian and for Tolosa is well known. The inscription gives new insight into the religious life of the western part of the Prouincia in the first century AD.
